Born in 1978 in Bayonne. Gabrielle Duplantier studies painting and the history of art at the Faculté des Arts Plastiques de Bordeaux. Photography was a secondary love. Once her diploma obtained, she decides to work her photographic practice alone and sets up in Paris where she works as Photographer’s assistant. Rapidly she needs to return to her natal land. Inspired by this rich & enigmatic country she launches a series on the Pays Basque, where people are lost in interminable spaces. She also works on feminine portraits, a favourite subject and an ideal motive to study intimacy and gentleness. Gabrielle often travels to Portugal to photograph this land near to her homeland roots. The three series enrichen with time. She replies to demands of reporting photos, illustrations for editors, animates a photo workshop for children and works regularly with the musical group “Gojira”. She’s currently photographing the Pays Basque chapels for Cairn Editions …….. Gabrielle lives and works in Bayonne.
